With the Covid pandemic, we’ve all changed our shopping habits. Many of us have rediscovered the joys of shopping locally and getting behind our communities. Why not show your support for diversity and inclusion too by choosing to buy from a diverse range of small businesses?

Lauren Hurley and Sophie Gorecki, Founders of Mabel’s Vegan Yorkshires
Lauren and Sophie have created Mabel’s to share Lauren’s delicious vegan Yorkshire puddings with the whole country.
Mabel’s Vegan Yorkshires is a 100% vegan business, vegan founded and owned, committed to animal welfare and sustainability. Their products are palm oil-free, and they use compostable bio-plastic packaging!

Gemma Priestley, Founder of Rain Bar
Rain Bar is Huddersfield’s only LGBTQIA+ venue.
They opened in 2020 and you can find them on King Street! Owner Gemma told us that Rain provides a “safe space and a place to call home and be themselves” for the community and that they welcome everyone; community members and allies!
Jack Holden, Founder of Watersmeet Productions
Jack Holden is an actor, writer and producer.
Jack founded Watersmeet Productions in 2017 to start producing film and theatre with an LGBTQIA+ angle. They have since produced a wide range of things – Queer and not Queer – “but have always returned to their LGBTQIA+ roots”.
Luke Hannam, Founder of Rise‘N’Design
Rise ‘N’ Design Ltd is a graphic design company that provides businesses with new imagery and marketing content. Luke designs logos, social media content, adverts, content for websites, posters and much more.

Vicki and Lucy, Founders of Two Girls Co
Two Girls Co. are a wife and wife design team in Bristol and makers of products that celebrate and encourage creativity. Lucy and Vicki have been together 10+ years and founded the business in 2017.

Krishan Parmar, Fashion Stylist and Wardrobe Designer
Krishan works as a fashion stylist in the commercial, fashion and celebrity industry.

Bonny Rose, Founder of The Jungle Boat
Bonny is a professional dancer that graduated in the middle of the pandemic and an avid plant lover.
Owner of a vast collection, taking pride in rescuing the reduced plants in supermarkets or big garden centres, one day, she created a ‘stall’, put her plants out and gave it a go!
“People loved it and the rest is history!” The Jungle Boat now have multiple restaurants/cafes that sell their plants. They also offers workshops, plant hire and much more!
Amy and Kirsten, Founders of Midnight Lettering Co
Since meeting in 2014, Amy and Kirsten have constantly been on the move, living and travelling to over 20 countries together!
Both incredibly creative, with a strong love for entertaining they launched Midnight Lettering Co when the pandemic hit last year. They create inclusive gifts and home decor. Check out all of their colourful designs on their website and Instagram page!
